ŚRĪ-VIṢṆU-SAHASRANĀMA-STOTRAM


INTRODUCTION - PART 1

om

śuklāmbara-dharaṁ viṣṇuṁ śaśi-varṇaṁ catur-bhujam |
prasanna-vadanaṁ dhyāyet sarva-vighnopaśāntaye ||1||

yasya dvirada-vaktrādyāḥ pāriṣadyāḥ paraḥ-śatam |
vighnaṁ nighnanti satataṁ viṣvak-senaṁ tam āśraye ||2||

vyāsaṁ vasiṣṭha-naptāraṁ śakteḥ pautram akalmaṣam |
parāśarātmajaṁ vande śuka-tātaṁ tapo-nidhim ||3||

vyāsāya viṣṇu-rūpāya vyāsa-rūpāya viṣṇave |
namo vai brahma-nidhaye vāsiṣṭhāya namo namaḥ ||4||

avikārāya śuddhāya nityāya paramātmane |
sadaika-rūpa-rūpāya viṣṇave sarva-jiṣṇave ||5||

yasya smaraṇa-mātreṇa janma-saṁsāra-bandhanāt |
vimucyate namas tasmai viṣṇave prabhaviṣṇave ||6||

oṁ namo viṣṇave prabhaviṣṇave |


INTRODUCTION - PART 2

vaiśampāyana uvāca –

śrutvā dharmān aśeṣeṇa pāvanāni ca sarvaśaḥ |
yudhiṣṭhiraḥ śāntanavaṁ punar evābhyabhāṣata ||1||

yudhiṣṭhira uvāca –

kim ekaṁ daivataṁ loke kiṁ vāpy ekaṁ parāyaṇam |
stuvantaḥ kaṁ kam arcantaḥ prāpnuyur mānavāḥ śubham ||2||

ko dharmaḥ sarva-dharmāṇāṁ bhavataḥ paramo mataḥ |
kiṁ japan mucyate jantur janma-saṁsāra-bandhanāt ||3||

bhīṣma uvāca –

jagat-prabhuṁ deva-devam anantaṁ puruṣottamam |
stuvan nāma-sahasreṇa puruṣaḥ satatotthitaḥ ||4||

tam eva cārcayan nityaṁ  bhaktyā puruṣam avyayam |
dhyāyan stuvan namasyaṁś ca yajamānas tam eva ca ||5||

anādi-nidhanaṁ viṣṇuṁ sarva-loka-maheśvaram |
lokādhyakṣaṁ stuvan nityaṁ sarva-duḥkhātigo bhavet ||6||

brahmaṇyaṁ sarva-dharma-jñaṁ lokānāṁ kīrti-vardhanam |
loka-nāthaṁ mahad bhūtaṁ sarva-bhūta-bhavodbhavam ||7||

eṣa me sarva-dharmāṇāṁ dharmo 'dhikatamo mataḥ |
yad bhaktyā puṇḍarīkākṣaṁ stavair arcen naraḥ sadā ||8||

paramaṁ yo mahat tejaḥ paramaṁ yo mahat tapaḥ |
paramaṁ yo mahad brahma paramaṁ yaḥ parāyaṇam ||9||

pavitrāṇāṁ pavitraṁ yo maṅgalānāṁ ca maṅgalam |
daivataṁ devatānāṁ ca bhūtānāṁ yo 'vyayaḥ pitā ||10||

yataḥ sarvāṇi bhūtāni bhavanty ādiyugāgame |
yasmiṁś ca pralayaṁ yānti punar eva yuga-kṣaye ||11||

tasya loka-pradhānasya jagan-nāthasya bhūpate |
viṣṇor nāma sahasraṁ me śṛṇu pāpa-bhayāpaham ||12||

yāni nāmāni gauṇāni vikhyātāni mahātmanaḥ |
ṛṣibhiḥ parigītāni tāni vakṣyāmi bhūtaye ||13||

nāmnāṁ sahasrasya vedavyāso mahā-muniḥ |
chando 'nuṣṭup tathā devo bhagavān devakī-sutaḥ ||1||

amṛtāṁśūdbhavo bījaṁ śaktir devaki-nandanaḥ |
tri-sāmā hṛdayaṁ tasya śānty-arthe viniyujyate ||2||

viṣṇuṁ jiṣṇuṁ mahā-viṣṇuṁ prabhaviṣṇuṁ maheśvaram |
aneka-rūpa daityāntaṁ namāmi puruṣottamaṁ ||3||

śrī-mahā-viṣṇuḥ paramātmā śrīman-nārāyaṇo devatā |

amṛtāṁśūdbhavo bhānur iti bījam |

devakī-nandanaḥ sraṣṭeti śaktiḥ |

udbhavaḥ kṣobhaṇo deva iti paramo mantraḥ |

śaṅkha-bhṛn nandakī cakrīti kīlakam |

śārṅga-dhanvā gadādhara ity astram |

rathāṅga-pāṇir akṣobhya iti netram |

tri-sāmā sāma-gaḥ sāmeti kavacam |

ānandaṁ para-brahmeti yoniḥ |

kṣīrodanvat-pradeśe śuci-maṇi-vilasat-saikate mauktikānāṁ
mālā-kḻptāsana-sthaḥ sphaṭika-maṇi-nibhair mauktikair maṇḍitāṅgaḥ |
śubhrair abhrair adabhrair upari-viracitair mukta-pīyūṣa-varṣaiḥ
ānandī naḥ punīyād ari-nalina-gadā-śaṅkha-pāṇir-mukundaḥ ||1||

bhūḥ pādau yasya nābhir viyad asur anilaś candra-sūryau ca netre
karṇāvāśāḥ śiro dyaur mukham api  dahano yasya vāsteyam abdhiḥ |
antaḥ-sthaṁ yasya viśvaṁ sura-nara-khaga-go-bhogi-gandharva-daityaiḥ
citraṁ raṁramyate taṁ tribhuvana-vapuṣaṁ viṣṇum īśaṁ nanāmi ||2||

oṁ namo bhagavate vāsudevāya |

śāntākāraṁ bhujaga-śayanaṁ padma-nābhaṁ sureśaṁ
viśvādhāraṁ gagana-sadṛśaṁ megha-varṇaṁ śubhāṅgam |
lakṣmī-kāntaṁ kamala-nayanaṁ yogibhir dhyāna-gamyaṁ
vande viṣṇuṁ bhava-bhaya-haraṁ sarva-lokaika-nātham ||3||

megha-śyāmaṁ pīta-kauśeya-vāsaṁ śrī-vatsāṅkaṁ kaustubhodbhāsitāṅgam |
puṇyopetaṁ puṇḍarīkāyatākṣaṁ viṣṇuṁ vande sarva-lokaika-nātham ||4||

sa-hāra-vakṣaḥ-sthala-kaustubha-śriyaṁ namāmi viṣṇuṁ śirasā catur-bhujam ||5||

chāyāyāṁ pārijātasya hema-siṁhāsanopari |
āsīnam ambuda-śyāmam āyatākṣam alaṁkṛtam ||6||

candrānanaṁ catur-bāhuṁ śrī-vatsāṅkita-vakṣasam |

vīra-hā viṣamaḥ śūnyo ghṛtāśīr acalaś calaḥ ||79||

amānī māna-do mānyo loka-svāmī triloka-dhṛk |
sumedhā medha-jo dhanyaḥ satya-medhā dharā-dharaḥ ||80||

tejo-vṛṣo dyuti-dharaḥ sarva-śastra-bhṛtāṁ varaḥ |
pragraho nigraho vyagro naika-śṛṅgo gadāgra-jaḥ ||81||

catur-mūrtiś catur-bāhuś catur-vyūhaś catur-gatiḥ |
catur-ātmā catur-bhāvaś caturveda-vid eka-pāt ||82||

samāvarto 'nivṛttātmā durjayo duratikramaḥ |
durlabho durgamo durgo durāvāso durāri-hā ||83||
